Katrina's WOW poem!
Our very own Katrina J., British CLT-Bringer of WOW, created this fine work below to represent our culture in poetry.
Here at Zappos, we have a special way,
It's called the the 10 core values and it helps us every day.
One of course, is the "Service WOW"
If you are really good at it, we award you a C.O.W (cultivator of wow
award)
Number two, You're in the drivers seat
Embracing change, we think is pretty neat!
Do you fit in with number three? please read on and you will see.
If you want to shave your head and have a race to grow a beard,
Then you're creating a little fun and are hopefully a bit weird!
Be adventurous, creative and open minded as well, is number four, if
you can't tell?
Now we are at the middle and it's about keeping our brains fed,
Pursuing growth and learning, will help us stay ahead.
As for number six, we won't keep you out of touch,
It's open and honest communication, that will help us build our trust.
Team and family spirit is the next one to keep in mind.
With picnic's and parties, where we all have a good time.
Doing more with less got us where we are today,
so, number eight is really great, making your idea's our Way!
It's number nine, I hear you determined to shout!!
And of course it's the Passion, which is what we're all about.
So now we reached the last one, what could we have left out??
Ten wonderful core values that makes Zappos what we are all about.
We like to remember where we came from and how far we have to go,
So being humble, is the last core, to keep in mind,
As we spread a little happiness to all of mankind.....
CLT QA Awards Top Performers
The Zappos slogan is "Powered by Service". Everything that we do is focused with our customer in mind. In fact, our call center has an entire team, called quality assurance, which focuses on making sure our customers' experience is the best it can possible be.
This week our QA team went around the office and surprised some of the employees that received the top customer service scores for the current period.
The Emerica skate team has been killing themselves to wrap up the new "Stay Gold" video to be released very soon. To commemorate these efforts, Emerica created a "Stay Gold" collection which features trippy psychedelic colors on canvas uppers, and spray painted outsoles....all of which are Vegan friendly!

Celebrity Gossip! Verne Troyer Owes the Government Some Serious Money
What is with all these celebrities (or so-called celebrities) not being able to afford their taxes? I mean celebrities have to have an accountant or financial planner helping them with their money right? The latest celebrity to be hit with back taxes is Austin Power's Mini-Me Verne Troyer. The actor fell behind on his taxes in 2005 and 2008 and owes the government $10,869.36 in back taxes. I guess this is nothing compared to the millions that Nicolas Cage owes in taxes but still, the guy has to come up with almost $11,000 soon. A few months ago Verne had mentioned that Mike Myers was coming up with an Austin Powers 4 movie. He better hope that Mike writes it awful fast so he can get some money.
Singer Mariah Carey is stepping forward and admits that she was emotionally abused in a relationship. She says that she can relate to singer Rihanna and her relationship with Chris Brown as she too was emotionally and mentally abused. Mariah, who married Nick Cannon last year, says that she has been through some painful relationships in the past. She told Larry King in an interview, "You know, I just think you get into a situation and you feel locked in. If your situation is similar to one of the situations I've been in - which I won't harp on - for me, to really get out, it was difficult because there was a connection that was not only a marriage but a business thing, where the person was in control of my life." In the same interview, Mariah also denounced the rumors that she was pregnant. She says that she would love to have a child now but with her movie Precious and singing career she does not have the time to devote to motherhood like she wants to. She said, "I wouldn't be just like, 'Oh, I'm having a child, Yay! Let me get a nanny so I can give her the baby. Take the kid. That doesn't work for me. I don't believe in that." At least this is one celebrity who takes motherhood seriously rather than just pawning kids off on a nanny.

Exercise Routine Do's & Don'ts for the Week: Concentrate on Form and Maximum Repetitions It seems like everybody wants to get fit, yet far too many people go about it the wrong way. They join a high class gym, buy the cool workout clothes, and then spend more time socializing than exercising. And, when they do finally get down to actually pushing some weight, they stop too early before the real burn begins. So, if you fit either of these two categories, check out the advice below to better your workouts.
The Exercise "Do"
When pushing or pulling your own body weight, never stop at a set number. Continue working until you cannot physically do one more. Thus, go until failure. This will maximize the set and exhaust the muscles, which is precisely what you want. Doing eight push-ups when you could have done twelve wastes that set, as you never let yourself reach the needed burn to grow the muscle. The last three reps should burn and make you doubt yourself. Concentrate on excellent form and maximum repetitions, and you'll see results far quicker than if you limited yourself to a mere number.
The Exercise "Don't"
While a gym can be a great place to socialize and meet people, do so at the juice bar or in the locker room. When the time comes to workout, plug your iPod in and get focused. Countless sessions are ruined each day by over-resting between sets. Your routine should have you working multiple muscles back to back, with rest coming for no more than the 30-second walk between the water fountain and the next station. People who stop and converse, who sit and daydream, destroy the potential of their workout. Keep determined, wave hello, and move on.
Waste no time and maximize each repetition. Plug these two philosophies into your training sessions and you'll see the change shortly.
In our life time, we have a finite period of time...and most of
us have no idea of how much time we really have.
Since we can't ever buy more time, maybe we should be spending it
wisely.
