Money My Web Update
As of today the Money My Web Blog will not be updated and further. Sadly the blog platform from godaddy.com was not able to meet the goals of this blog. As a result I started a new blog at www.vendingmatic.info with a Wordpress theme. The Wordpress platform allowed me to create the blog as I had wanted from the start. In the last few weeks I have moved some posts from here to the new site. The change has been smooth and I very happy with the way google and the other search engines picked up the site. As for this site I might add a post here and there for anyone who happens to stumble upon. Well now I hope that our loyal readers will follow to the new site. Please drop by and let me know what you think.

I am not sure how this fits in with my making money on the web site, but saving money on gas is on everyone's mind. With the economy going the way it's going and such high gas prices I looked into alternative fuels. What if you could drive your car on water? Well it seem that it is possible to do so. There is a company that has a system to convert a regular car into one that runs on water. I do not know all the details, but I added a lin for you to find out more. A few years ago there was an infomercial for placing classified ad's in local papers and making money. A friend of mine order this program, but failed to make his millions. It was not that this method of advertising did not work, it was the products. With the internet it is now possible to rework this idea. Many newspapers offer a free ad to any one selling general merchandise for under $50.00 why not take advantage of this offer. If you have a web site list a product that you sell in the classified section. You will need a phone number for people to call as email and web site address are not allowed in free ad's in most newspapers. Once the ad is running people will call the number you advertised, here is where the internet comes in. Since you want people to visit your website, let them know in a voice message that your item can be seen online at www.yoursite.com and that they can order it direct from the site. If you get a good response rate you will get a few extra sales using this method. Last month I tried this with one of my products and I ended up with 7 sales I would have never had is I ddi not try this method. If you need a cheap phone number with voice mail pick up a pay as you cell phone and just use it for your classified listing.

The popularity of the ipod has created a new form of media called podcasting. With the power to broadcast for a low cost to millions, podcasts have become big business. At first only a few geeks were putting out podcast, but now even big companies have gotten in on the action. The small business owner can also benefit from the low cost to enter. If you have a product or service to promote you can create a podcast related to your business. This is a great way to build brand awareness and provide customers a branded message. You can also advertise on other peoples podcast and there are a few companies that can help you start a campaign. With one of my sites I am looking into using this new form of advertising. I am in the process of getting the prices and details for my first go. Since I can track users by coupon codes I will be able to measure the success rate of my advertising. Diddy
A few days ago I was watching the new show from P. Diddy or just Diddy whatever he goes by now. The show which is a rip off of The Apprentice brought out an interesting use of the internet by Diddy. It seems he is into making viral videos and is constantly making new videos. The use of viral videos is great way to create brand awareness. Everytime someone watches one of his videos on youtube or on Diddy's web site that is free advertising. A few weeks ago the tabloid shows picked up one of the videos when Diddy went on a rant about gas prices for his private jet. If you sell online or even for off line selling viral videos create a buzz that can bring extra business. It is well worth buying a little web camcorder and learning how to make videos to place on youtube. The best use on youtube are by those who do reviews of a product and then provide a link to their web site. If you type in review click on a few videos and see what others are promoting. As for the new Diddy show it's alright you might learn a few things here and there so it is well worth watching.

Using Google Adwords
For anyone trying to sell a product or service online, you must understand search advertising. The most popular program is adwords from google. With their program you pay per click to advertise your product or service through googles vast sites and partners. Many web sites have seen great results from using this type of advertising. With some of the sites I run I have used adwords to promote my sites, even this blog is promoted with adwords. In the last few days I tried yahoo and microsofts search advertising for a new site I started up. No results yet to measure the power of the other serach sites. What I would like to know is how to use these programs more efecctivley. If anyone out there knows and tips to get better results please share.
With one of my sites that sells products I might try shopzilla which works the same as the google adwords program, but instead adds your product to a search result for people who are comparison shopping. I will post my result for shopzilla once I do somemore research and sign up for an account.
Buying a new HDTV watch for package marketing
A few days ago I watched a Canadian television show called market place. They did a report on how stores add expensive cables to the purchase of a new HDTV. The cable are called HDMI and are offered by the sales person, who in most cases leads you to believe that your new TV will not work well without cables that cost $200.00 or more. The most famous brand would be the Monster Cables. The questions is do you need these cables? The CBC network that aired the show had the expensive cables tested at their head office against a cable that cost $12.00 online. I know that there is room for debate, but if the CBC which broadcasts in HD and has so many years of television experience test a cable I do have faith in them. The result was that the expensive cables performed exactly the same as the $12.00 no name brand cable bought online. If you are in the market for a HDTV stay away from the expensive cables you do not need to spend the extra money, unless you are rich and want to brag that you spent $200 on a cable. The same is true with USB printer cables (which I bought for $1.00 at the dollar store) if bought with a new printer, stores charge about $25.00 for the cable. I have not had any problems with my dollar store USB cable in 3 years since I go the printer. I also have bought a S-Video cable from the dollar store and it has worked will with my DVD player and TV. If you are going to buy cables I recommend that you do some research before you buy. Also do not believe the sales person the cables are just an extra sale for them that provides some extra commission.
Why do big companies cut jobs?
The other day I read about a big company cutting jobs and I started to look at some figures and it did not look right. I started to think that maybe big business use this as an excuse to fire employees that management might not like. This way they clean up the work force and it does not look as bad and employees will not fight back, or be to upset when they see a large number of co-workers were also let go. If anyone is in HR can support this idea please let us know in the comments.
Don't Google Ask Instead
The most popular search engine is no doubt Google, but there are other search engines that are great alternatives. If you want to try a great search engine visit www.ask.com I almost forgot about this site. The ask.com site has been around for awhile now, but got lost in the search arena. The site features a clean look like Google and on ask.com you can see the page in a thumb picture before you click in the link. I like this preview feature it save time form going to sites with the wrong information that I am looking for. The only thing I could not find on ask.com was a submit button to add my blog to their engine. If someone know how to submit to them please let me know.
Doing Business on The Go
In a few weeks I am taking a road trip. The total travel time is about 17hours and I have set a goal to find business ideas and items to resell along my travel. My goal is to make $300 from just coming across items to sell online. This week I am looking for places to stop where I might find some treasures. When I find an item to sell I would also like to list it online right away.
The tools that I will be using are my trusty Asus EEEPC a Niko Digital Camera and my new found love my P168 cell phone (That happens to look like and iphone).
If I know I will be staying long enough in one place I will try the local craigslist and see if I can sell stuff as I go along. In order to get results I am trying to do research for the different cities I will drive through. At the end of the trip I will post pictures of some of the items I found and any selling results. All I want is for this experiment to pay for my gas.

The sales do not come as quick as with eBay, but then again you profit margin is higher. When I have a certain item that I have more then 10 I list it on ioffer and forget about it until it sells. The site has an international reach which it great. The last few years has seen ioffer make some great changes and making their site one of the top auction site on the internet. As a Canadian I have been following the elections in the US. The truth is many of the business I have or plan on starting depend on a strong US economy. Anyone who sells online know that not to target US customers would be a huge mistake. With the current economy it is very important to study US trends and the elections impact on the global economy. Since I do not know to much about Obama Barack I ordered his book on itunes to listen while I work. It provides a glimp as to how this man might be as President of the Worlds most powerful nation. I enjoyed listening to this audio book and am trying to find one on McCain to form an educated opinion of the elections.
Vending Machine Business
This idea has been in my head for awhile. The vending machine business makes million of dollars each year. In order to start your own vending machine business you need to decided what you would like to sell. There are machines that sell everything from snack pop candy to jeans. Once you figure out which item is right for you then it's a matter of buying a machine either new or used. Once you have a machine you need to get a location. There are many web sites that can help you find great locations. There are also a few books about the vending machine business. At this stage I am just thinking of getting into this type of business. Once I have some ideas and numbers I will start looking for a machine. I did find a few good deals on machines on ebay.
Make Money Online Sell your Used DVD's and CD's
If you are like me you might be sitting on a stack of DVD's and CD's that you do not need. The other day I was cleaning up my spare room and found a stack of DVD's that I no longer need. In the past I would have saved these CD's and DVD's for yard sales or eBay. This time around I though I would try secondspin.com since you can sell your old collection to them. It worked out well for me and I might buy some new DVD's with my new found money.
