New for 2009!
Hmm! there's been a fair bit of blogging this past week about new years resolutions - that type of thing, not something I usually go in for, I leave that sort of thing up to Mrs Beanphoto. But today feels like a new year. I have my first wedding of the year up at Lancaster Cathedral, and I'm looking forward to that. However, I'm still not really expecting or wishing for anything bold or new for 2009. I will aim simply to enjoy whatever I am doing, have fun, and to do more of those things I enjoy the most. And I shall start by sharing a fun new toy with you. I came across Poladroid in early December, but had no time to play with it until recently over the holiday break. And what fun it is. As near a recreation of the joy that is polaroid photography as it is possible to get. Choose your image to turn into a poladroid, watch as the image 'develops' before your eyes, smile at the lovely vignetting and colour casts, 'take' nine more (only ten pics in a polaroid cartridge) and share...
It just remains for me to say...
Who is this young man living in my home?
Last weekend my eldest lad Stanley turned 14, yes 14! He is now taller than I am, wears size 10 shoes, is shaving regularly and has a deeper voice than me. Did I blink?

Look at the view!
On my walk around Williamson Park this morning my eye was caught by some elderly tourists enjoying the morning sunlight and the beautiful Ashton vista.
The gift of relaxation
Mrs Beanphoto has been asking me these last few weeks for me to produce her some gift vouchers in readiness for Christmas. So this morning when the postman delivered this lovely little gift box I thought aha! and set to work. Now we just have to wait for the printers to deliver them!
And if you are short of an idea for a christmas present, I can heartily recommend a gift voucher from flow therapies for a nice bit of perfect pampering.
Wedding Venues
I've been reminded this last year of how this area has some beautiful, if not stunning wedding venues to offer. I've photographed this last year at the fantastic Ashton Memorial in Lancaster several times, and made a return visit to the stunning Netherwood Hotel in Grange Over Sands, but also at a number of new (to me) venues, including, Stanley House, Broadoaks Country House, Ribby Hall and the Inn on the Lake in Ullswater.

And next year, I'm already looking forward to seeing some more new venues when I cover weddings already booked at Hipping Hall, Springfield House, Mitton Hall, Ripley Chapel, Lancaster Cathedral (return visit) and the charming Inn at Whitewell.
Party Fun & Games
Mrs Beanphoto had a bit of a party last weekend, something of a retro affair with lots of old vinyl and it gave me a chance to grab a few snaps of some of the guests to add to my ongoing LP Cover Art portrait collection.
Halloween A-Go-Go
I'm a tad late posting on Halloween's goings on this year, mainly because it fell plonk in the middle of Lancaster Litfest and so I was somewaht otherwise engaged, however I'm not one to let the chance of some pumpkin carving and ghouling go by and here are this years efforts, the first one by me, the spider by my eldest spookster Stan and the third (it's Frankenstein's Monster!) by young cousin Ned who was staying for the week.

New for 2009! Wedding photo books
I've been planning to offer wedding books for a while now and I'm pleased to announce that for 2009 I can now do so. These lovely books are available in softback, hardback with dust jacket or as imagewrap (which is the cover image printed onto the actual cloth - very nice!), and in varying sizes too (7" x 7", 10" x 8" either landscape or portrait format or as large format 13" x 11").
Prices are yet to be fixed, but I can let you know that after the initial order, additional copies (for family & friends) can be ordered directly from the printers at very reasonable prices.
I have made up sample books from a couple of recent weddings and you can preview them now. Take a look - I think you'll like them!
And let me know what you think!

Musical Youths
It was a nice surprise, turning the pages of the Lancaster Guardian this weekend to see one of my photos taken at The Hothouse for More Music being used to promote an upcoming event. You can get more details on the event from info@moremusic.org.uk
Wordle
This morning I received a link to a rather fun site (wordle) for creating word clouds. Don't know what a word cloud is? Well here are a few examples I created earlier which I think are kind of rather nice...
