Harry O's was formerly known as Tom's Backdoor Lounge back in the day & featured Djs such as Paul Johnson. There is a dancefloor & DJ booth. Since then the place has only seen improvements. I havn't had time to work on a flyer, i'm just getting the word out. As of now the lineup includes...

Do you buy music or is it sold to you?


Shawn brought up a good point in the POTD thread in that in today's current chicago party scene, most of the ravers probably just go because it's a party and not because someone like AK1200 is headlining. Whether this is due to the fact that AK1200 was in his prime 10 years ago or party-goers simpler aren't in touch with the music, I'm not 100% sure. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with this. In my experience, music makes 90% of a party. I know for a fact that not everyone agrees with that and that's okay.

But i do know this. There are 2 kinds of people in this world. Those who buy music and those who are sold music. This isnt a question of [anti]-piracy. The question is metaphorical in nature. The question is meant to ask: do you actively seek out music to listen to or is it fed to you by friends, family, and the media.

I know some people are going to want to lie on this thread and maybe even to themselves to save face. So feel free to post whichever you like but honestly ask yourself in the meantime.

I think the answer to this question can be good for promoters in the chicago scene. As it's been speculated upon--why drop money on a headliner that party-goers don't care about? I'm not even talking about someone personally not liking them or never having heard of them, I'm talking about not caring about headliners in general. If you think Dottcom and 6Blocc sound the same behind the decks, SPEAK UP. That's not to disrespect either of those DJ's but to point out--hey, maybe most people don't care about the name...or, maybe some people can't even tell the difference.

This is kind of turning into a rant (with no side really). But the question remains. Do you buy music or is it sold to you?
