Man vs Cheese

It’s an annual event held at Cooper’s Hill in Brockworth, England. It used to be attended only by locals, but now many people from around the world are interested and some of them even participate. The rules are very simple: from the top of the hill, a round of Double Gloucester cheese is rolled and competitors chase after it. The first to reach the finish line, wins. Sometimes competitors and even spectators get injured, therefore some paramedics are always around.

… and she’s very serious about it.

Pothole Diver

This seems like a great way to get a headache! Just dive head first in a big pothole in the middle of the road. You might, however, regret your actions when you wake up in the morning…

Drunk Diaper Thief Passes Out

It seems drinking and diapers don’t mix. A man who somehow lost his pants after a night of binge drinking ended up passed out on the floor of a 92 year old woman’s house while wearing her Depends disposable undergarments.

This extremely drunk individual broke through her window and put on the woman’s diaper and then promptly went to sleep. The elderly lady was away for the night, but returned early in the morning to find the strange man laying on her floor. She screamed and called for help and when the cops arrived they knew they had their baby, er, man!

The diaper thief was eventually fined and given a time out for bad behavior…

Odd News Stories

Odd stories are all over the news lately. Planes being taken down by flocks of geese. Women giving birth to more kids than a chicken lays eggs. What’s going on? Are we going crazy? Is the world getting weirder or does it just SEEM like it?

It’s hitting close to home too. Recently, an old man living down the road from me got attacked by a giant flying turkey. Or at least it LOOKED like one. It was a BIG BIRD either way. I think I’ll just hide under the covers. Wake me up when the insanity has ended…

Man ‘marries’ his deceased girlfriend

GUANGZHOU: A man in Zhongshan, Guangdong province, “married” his dead girlfriend at a funeral parlor on Monday, Southern Metropolis Daily reported on Tuesday.

The bride, Yan Lin, 26, was was killed in a traffic accident earlier this month.

“I want her to be my wife, even though she is not in this world any more,” the bridegroom, who only identified himself as Samuel, said.

Yan worked as a sales manager in Zhongshan. She and Samuel, in his late 20s, had dated for three years.

During the ceremony, Samuel koutowed to his father and Yan’s mother, a traditional marriage rite that signifies the groom will look after the bride forever.

A chicken was placed beside Samuel to represent the bride.

Wedding ceremonies for dead people have taken place in Zhongshan for centuries, and chickens are usually used to represent the deceased.

During the ceremony, Samuel also placed a wedding ring made of paper on Yan’s finger and then kissed her hand.

“I am now not able to give you a better life; let’s meet each other in heaven. I will marry you again in the next life,” Samuel told Yan.

Samuel and Yan bought a house and planned on getting married next year.

However, all their dreams were shattered when a car crashed into Yan’s motorcycle on Sept 3.

Both came from Sichuan province and graduated from the same college.

But their love did not blossom until they came to Zhongshan.

“I met her for the first time in Zhongshan through a friend six years ago, but we only started dating three years ago. She was a very kind person and very filial to my parents,” Samuel said.

He said in the past year he had been through some difficult times, but Yan was always there to encourage and support him.

Samuel said although it was not a legal marriage, he would keep all his promises he made to Yan before her death. He would take care of her parents as a dutiful son-in-law.

Mom allegedly uses daughter’s ID to be cheerleader

GREEN BAY, Wis. - A 33-year-old woman stole her daughter’s identity to attend high school and join the cheerleading squad, according to a criminal complaint filed against the woman.

Wendy Brown, of Green Bay, faces a felony identity theft charge after enrolling in Ashwaubenon High School as her 15-year-old daughter, who lives in Nevada with Brown’s mother.

According to the complaint, Brown wanted to get her high school degree and become a cheerleader because she didn’t have a childhood and wanted to regain a part of her life that she’d missed.

Brown allegedly attended cheerleading practices before school started, received a cheerleader’s locker and went to a pool party at the cheerleading coach’s house.

The $134.50 check Brown gave to the cheerleading coach for her uniform bounced, the complaint said.

A high school employee, Kim Demeny, told authorities that the woman, posing as the teen, seemed very timid. Demeny said she told her she was not good at math and even cried when she talked about moving from Pahrump Valley High School in Nevada. Demeny said she looked older than a student but had the demeanor of a high school girl.

A school liaison officer started investigating after Brown only attended the first day of classes last week, the complaint said.

Assistant Principal Dirk Ribbins later learned Brown’s daughter was enrolled at Pahrump Valley High School. Ribbins also spoke with Brown’s mother, who told him she had custody of the girl. She said Brown has a history of identity theft crimes, the complaint said.

Brown made her first court appearance Friday by video conference. The judge set bond at $8,000.

If convicted, she could face up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

There was no attorney listed in Brown’s online court records. Her home number could not be found.

Personal Opinion: Wow, a feeling of nostalgia could cause up so much trouble heh!

Religious man got eaten when trying to receive blessing from crocodile

man eated by a crocodileBangladesh police say a crocodile killed and ate a 25-year-old after he waded into a pond next to a shrine in an attempt to receive the animal’s blessing, news.com.au reported Friday.

Inspector Humayun Kabir said Rubel Sheikh and his mother traveled to the Muslim Khan Jahan Ali shrine, where hundreds of people visit every day to offer hens and goats to the crocodiles living there.

Part of the shrine ritual involves bathing in the water with the crocodiles, but devotees are very rarely approached by the animals, according to Kabir.

“He went into the pond hoping to be blessed when a crocodile attacked him and dragged him into the deep part of the pond,” Kabir told the Australian Associated Press.

“This is a very unusual incident. Normally, the crocodiles are very friendly and do not harm people.”

About 25 people dove into the pond to try and rescue Sheikh, but could not find his body. It washed ashore Thursday and had been largely eaten, Kabir said.

Cat grows “wings”

One animal started to develop the “wings” during a period of hot weather in Sichuan, a large province in southern China where a devastating earthquake struck this spring.

Although the growths appear fluffy, they contain bone. But veterinary experts say that despite the hard inner core, the flaps do not harm the cat’s quality of life or safety.

Several animals were photographed with the furry protuberances by a local newspaper photographer.

“At first they were just two bumps, but they started to grow quickly, and after a month there were two wings,” said one cat’s owner, who was only identified as Feng.

“Many female cats in heat came to harass him, and then the wings started to grow,” she told the local Huashang News.

Although Feng attributed her pet’s condition to the stress of a feline love life and the hot Sichuan summer. However, scientists said the wings had a less romantic explanation.

In fact, the hairy growths probably developed because of unusual grooming habits, a genetic defect or a hereditary skin condition.
