Cradle to Cradle
An inspiring documentary on the Cradle to Cradle design concept of the chemist Michael Braungart and the architect William McDonough. Winner of the Silver Dragon at the Beijing International Science Film Festival 2006. OUTLINE: Man is the only creature that produces landfills. Natural resources are being depleted on a rapid scale while production and consumption are rising in nations like China and India.

The waste production world wide is enormous and if we do not do anything we will soon have turned all our resources into one big messy landfill. But there is hope. The German chemist, Michael Braungart, and the American designer-architect William McDonough are fundamentally changing the way we produce and build. If waste would become food forall the technical products we make, production and consumption could become beneficial for the planet.

A design and production concept that they call Cradle to Cradle. A concept that is seen as the next industrial revolution. • Design every product in such a way that at the end of its lifecycle the component materials become a new resource. Design buildings in such a way that they produce energy and become a friend to the environment.

Large companies like Ford and Nike are working with McDonough and Braungart to change their production facilities and their products. They realize that economically seen waste is destruction of capital. You make something with no value. Based on their ideas the Chinese government is working towards a circular economy where Waste = Food. An amazing story that will definitely change your way of thinking about production and consumption.

In Debt We Trust
In America's earliest days, there were barn-raising parties in which neighbors helped each other build up their farms. Today, in some churches, there are debt liquidation revivals in which parishioners chip in to free each other from growing credit card debts that are driving American families to bankruptcy and desperation.

IN DEBT WE TRUST is the latest film from Danny Schechter, "The News Dissector," director of the internationally distributed and award-winning WMD (Weapons of Mass Deception), an expose of the media's role in the Iraq War. The Emmy-winning former ABC News and CNN producer's new hard-hitting documentary investigates why so many Americans are being strangled by debt. While many Americans may be "maxing out" on credit cards, there is a deeper story: power is shifting into fewer hands, with frightening consequences.

IN DEBT WE TRUST shows how the mall replaced the factory as America's dominant economic engine and how big banks and credit card companies buy our Congress and drive us into what a former major bank economist calls modern serfdom. Americans and our government owe trillions in consumer debt and the national debt, a large amount of it to big banks and billions to Communist China.

Air Crash Investigations
The recent disappearance of the Air France Airbus A330 which carried 228 passengers has led me to search for documentaries regarding plane crashes. This is a few of the clips from the series 'Air Crash Investigations'. I will add on more clips when I find them

Air Crash Investigation - Air Canada 797

Aircrash Investigations-United Airlines Flight 232

Air Crash Investigation - Air France 358

Control Room - Propaganda of the Iraq War
See how tight constraints and desire to win over the hearts and minds of people world wide to support the baseless cause for the invasion of Iraq. See how different the sides are between east and western reporting. You be the judge of the truth.

Great Natural Wonders of The World
Sir David Attenborough takes us into a journey of nature, impressive and aspiring natural wonders. From the depths of death valley, to peaks of Yosemite Falls, to the volcanoes of Hawaii, this video will certainly be well worth your time.

Fake Trade
China, the land of the counterfeits. Multi-National corporations around the world have setted up factories in China in order to produce cheap goods. But where ideas come in, copy cats are bound to follow. And here in China, the authorities are closing not one, but both eyes, to this issue. Fakes are everywhere, from food to branded wear, to sporting goods and everything under the sun. There are even malls dedicated to selling fake products.

Austrian man locks up Daugther for 26 years and fathers 7 of her children
Long title but that's the only way i can start to describe this documentary!

I believe most of you readers should have heard of the Austrian case where this Monstrous Dad locked up his favourite daughter in an underground cellar for 26 years since she was 18. Not only that, he also raped her once every few day and that resulted in seven babies.

Well, here's the documentary of it. Interviews are done in Austrian German but with English voice-over translation.

Inside the video you will have an idea how the cellar would look like. There are 7 doors that need to be unlocked plus a secret door that leads to the room where his daughther stays.

Last I've heard, the Dad has been sent to life imprisonment.

How much is your body worth?
When veteran broadcaster Alistair Cooke died in 2004 few suspected that he was yet to uncover his greatest story. What happened to his body as it lay in a funeral home would reveal a story of modern day grave robbery and helped smash a body-snatching ring that had made millions of dollars by chopping up and selling-off over 1000 bodies. Dead bodies have become big business.

Each year millions of people's lives are improved by the use of tissue from the dead. Bodies are used to supply spare parts, and for surgeons to practice on. Horizon investigates the medical revolution that has created an almost insatiable demand for body parts and uncovers the growing industry and grisly black market that supplies human bodies for a price.

Contains some scene of body parts, tissues and blood. Not recommended for squeakish people!

How it's Made
This is part of a series from Discovery channel where they bring you into factories and find out how different things are made. Very interesting and educational stuff, though I gotta admit we probably will not have much use for all that newly acquired knowledge. There are many episodes lying around, I will try to find as much as I can and update if I find more.

Seems like the embedded videos from 56.com can't be played for now. Use the link below to watch it directly on the site, that was how it works for me.

The Umbrella Assassin
Georgi Ivanov Markov was a Bulgarian dissident writer during the time of the cold war where Bulgaria was communist.

No, he's not an umbrella assassin, but rather, a victim of this secret assassination method. One fine day as he was waiting for a bus, he felt a poke from his thigh and that's when he saw a man pick up an umbrella. 3 days later, Georgi was dead.

During the time of his death, he was working for the Radio Free Europe which is basically a radio station that broadcasts news to places where news are censored. Bulgaria was one of them, and Georgi often criticize the then Bulgarian, president Todor Zhivkov. It was speculated that this president has ordered an espionage to put him down. Watch this documentary to follow the case of the Umbrella Assasin

Ants - Nature's Secret Power

Visions of the Future
In this new three-part series, leading theoretical physicist and futurist Dr Michio Kaku explores the cutting edge science of today, tomorrow, and beyond. He argues that humankind is at a turning point in history. In this century, we are going to make the historic transition from the 'Age of Discovery' to the 'Age of Mastery', a period in which we will move from being passive observers of nature to its active choreographers. This will give us not only unparalleled possibilities but also great responsibilities.

1. THE INTELLIGENCE REVOLUTION

In the opening instalment, Kaku explains how artificial intelligence will revolutionise homes, workplaces and lifestyles, and how virtual worlds will become so realistic that they will rival the physical world. Robots with human-level intelligence may finally become a reality, and in the ultimate stage of mastery, we'll even be able to merge our minds with machine intelligence.

For the first time on television, see how a severely depressed patient can be turned into a happy person at the push of a button - all thanks to the cross-pollination of neuroscience and artificial intelligence.

2. THE BIOTECH REVOLUTION

Genetics and biotechnology promise a future of unprecedented health and longevity: DNA screening could prevent many diseases, gene therapy could cure them and, thanks to lab-grown organs, the human body could be repaired as easily as a car, with spare parts readily available. Ultimately, the ageing process itself could be slowed down or even halted.

But what impact will this have on who we are and how we will live? And, with our mastery of the genome, will the human race end up in a world divided by genetic apartheid?

3. THE QUANTUM REVOLUTION

The quantum revolution could turn many ideas of science fiction into science fact - from metamaterials with mind-boggling properties like invisibility through limitless quantum energy and room temperature superconductors to Arthur C Clarke's space elevator. Some scientists even forecast that in the latter half of the century everybody will have a personal fabricator that re-arranges molecules to produce everything from almost anything.

Yet how will we ultimately use our mastery of matter? Like Samson, will we use our strength to bring down the temple? Or, like Solomon, will we have the wisdom to match our technology?

Inside a BMW factory
Discovery takes us to the inside of the German BMW factory to learn how cars are manufactured. Content might be a little self promotion at times but it's still very educational. This time, the tour leads us to manufacturing of the BMW Z4 Car.

You'll never realise how tedious car manufacturing actually is until you've seen this video.

Carts of Darkness
This is a very inspiring documentary film by a paralyzed film director, Murray Siple. Murray Siple's feature-length documentary follows a group of homeless men who have combined bottle picking with the extreme sport of racing shopping carts down the steep hills of North Vancouver.

This subculture depicts street life as much more than the stereotypes portrayed in mainstream media. The film takes a deep look into the lives of the men who race carts, the adversity they face and the appeal of cart racing despite the risk.

These men have taught him a variety of things from general life to the shopping cart techniques. I have only realised that the paralyzed person was Murray himself when I went to research more about him. I have found some information about him that may interest you, it's right below this video.
