Google Announced Chrome OS Targeting Netbook

There has been rumors about Google releasing OS for quite a while, and Google finally did. Google recently announced on Google blog that they will be realeasing a Linux-base, open-source OS which will be a lightweight system with minimal user interface. They called it the Google Chrome OS. It will have minimal interface just like Google Chrome web browser, and will mainly targeting netbook computers. It’s expected to be available on netbooks in the 2nd half of 2010.




Sony Finally Release A Netbook

Sony released a mini laptop called the VAIO P few months ago, and refuse to call it a netbook. In fact, the over high price of the VAIO P does not qualify it as a netbook. Today, Sony finally released a real netbook, the VAIO W series, which comes with standard netbook specs and price:

  • 10.1-inch screen, 1366×768 resolution
  • Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz
  • 160GB HDD
  • 1GB RAM
  • webcam
  • GMA 950/W-LAN
  • Bluetooth
  • 3.5-hour battery pack
  • Windows XP Home Edition

The Sony VAIO W netbook is expected to be released on August at a starting price of $499.

While maintaining the good looking of the previous Eee PC 1008HA Seashell netbook, the Eee PC 1005HA not only solve the problem of the non-replaceable battery, but also boast an 8 hours plus of battery life, and a comfortable keyboard and touchpad . Toshiba NB205 Released

toshiba-nb205-n310-brown-cover-450Toshiba finally released its first netbook in the U.S. market. The Toshiba NB205 is an 10-inch netbook that comes with mostly standard specs that are similar to most of other netbooks on the market today:

  • 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N280 processor
  • 10.1-inch diagonal widescreen
  • 1GB DDR2 800MHz RAM, upgradeable to 2GB
  • 160GB HDD2
  • 6-cell battery
  • Full-sized keyboard

Although being late to the market, Toshiba manage to produce a top quality netbook that’s comparable to any other netbook available on the market today. Check out the review of Toshiba NB205 here.




HP Mini 1101 Now Available

HP Mini 1101 which was announced recently is now available for order on HP website. With a starting price of $329, the new HP netbook comes with a 10.1-inch, 1024 x 576 pixel display, 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, 802.11b/g WiFi, and a 3 cell battery.

Another edition of the netbook, Mini 110, is also available for pre-order now. The HP Mini 110 will give you more choices on the netbook colors, as well as  operating systems (Windows XP or Ubuntu Linux with HP’s Mi Edition user interface).




HP Introducing Mini 110

HP is introducing a new netbook model, Mini 110, which is a 10-inch netbook with several improvements on top of its predecessor. There will be 3 editions of HP Mini 110: Mini 110XP, Mini 110 Mi Edition, and Mini 1101.

The HP Mini 110XP comes with a 1.66GHz Atom N280 processor, and Broadcom accelerator chipset for decoding HD video up to 1080p. This edition of netbook will be released on June 10 for $329.

The HP Mini 110 Mi Edition comes with Ubuntu Linux and HP’s custom Mi Edition interface for the operating system. It will be available with up to 2GB of RAM and a hard drive up to 250GB. Prices start at $279.99. The HP Mini 110 Mi Edition should be available June 10th for $279.99.

The HP Mini 1101 is very similar to the HP Mini 1000. It will either have XP, XP Pro or Vista for OS, a 6-cell battery and internal 3G connectivity features.  The HP Mini 1101 will set you back for $329 and will hit netbook stores on June 1.

If you’re an HP fan who haven’t recently purchased the Mini 2140 due to its high price, the HP Mini 110 will be the right choice for you.

For those of you running Linux on your Eee PC or any other netbook, Eeebuntu is another variation of Linux OS developed specially for netbook, and the latest version, which is developed based on the recent release of Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope is just released. MSI Wind U123 Now Available In US

MSI Wind U123 which has been reviewed a while ago is now available on Amazon.com for $349.99 with a 6 cell battery.

Available in blue and red, the MSI Wind U123 will comes with a 10.2 inch, 1024 x 600 resolution screen, a 1.66GHz intel Atom N280 Processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. It also features facial recognition software that lets you login to Windows by gazing at the webcam.




Asus Added Product Page For Eee PC 1005HA

Asus has put up a product page for the Eee PC 1005HA. Overall, the netbook is quite similar to the Asus Eee PC 1008HA, except for having a replacable battery, and a little thicker and heavier than the Eee PC 1008HA. Asus still call the Eee PC 1005HA a Seashell netbook, which is the name given to the 1008HA earlier.

The Eee PC 1005HA will be available in 4 colors: black, white, blue, and pink. It measure 10.3? x a 7? x 1.4? and weigh between 2.4 and  and 2.8 pounds depending on the battery.




Dell Announced Latitude 2100 Netbook

Dell has just released a new 10-inch netbook, the Latitude 2100 which aims to target school children.

The specs for the Latitude 2100 netbook are similar to most other netboks todays: Intel Atom CPU, 1GB RAM, 16GB SSD, Windows XP, etc. What’s special about it is the thick, heavy chasis, with rubberized cover and anti-microbial keyboard. Dell is also offering an optional docking cart that schools can use to store and charge up to 24 netbooks.
