This living space in central Denver had a wood base. So, to get the look that the homeowner was interested in, we had to build a ‘concrete’ substrate. Metal lath was stapled down and Repair Mortar filled the voids. Once cured, the first coat of MPC was troweled. The second coat was trowel and the pattern cut. Coffee colored Dye and Seal was spray on, the accent colors were applied and the first coat of seal put down. Once the sealer had set up, the grout lines were filled, cleaned up and the second coat of sealer applied. Kelly is very pleased with her one-of-a-kind floor—quite a transformation from plywood.

This beautiful home in the Winter Park, CO area was the site for a Miracote Miraflex II system on the upper deck and a matching overlay on the lower patio. Following the application of the first coat, the Ashlar pattern was taped; the top coat was troweled to achieve the desired look. Solvent-based sealer completed the project. Repairing the cracks and spalling was completed prior to the decorative process. We then used two shades of gray to get this beautiful look. The overlay was sprayed to provide a surface with some slip resistance when wet. The project was sealed with two coats of solvent-based sealer.

Well, even though it seems like Winter is still (or finally?) here, it’s April! Time to start thinking about Spring landscaping. Stamped concrete is a great solution for outdoor hardscaping like patios, walkways, pool decks, courtyards, driveways and walls. With a stamped concrete overlay, we can work with your existing concrete, eliminating the need to remove it. Here is an example of a stamped concrete overlay project we did. For the patio we used a cementious overlay—highlighted sandpiper beige for the tile, with a white grout line. We then applied stamp material to a 5 foot in diameter circle. Once the stamp material set up, we stamped it with the Compass Rose stamp and stained it with water-based stain.
