Apple iPhone 3G S: Exclusive hands-on review

iPhone 3G S Unboxing

The iPhone 3G S box looks almost same with Apple's previous iPhone packaging, the different is the title "iPhone 3G S.

Let's see what we will find inside the box:

It all fits snugly inside, so as to minimise waste of materials.

Under the iPhone you'll find all the essential iPhone accessories, there's a USB sync data cable, A/C charger and earbuds.

The user guides and the SIM-eject tool is attached to the card sans glue. Of cause you'll get a set of Apple stickers to really nail your colours to the 'I'm a Mac' cause.

Here's all the contents - earbuds with mic and inline remote, new slimline mains AC plug, USB cable, SIM-eject tool, user guides, and of course your iPhone 3G S.

AT&T stores will be open to the pre-orderers only between 7 am and 9 am. If you didn't pre-order you'll need to be inline early in the morning, 5-6 am in many areas, to have a shot of grabbing an iPhone 3G S. We don't expect AT&T stores to have large quantities on hand.

Apple stores are insane on iPhone days and are all opening at 7 am. At popular Apple stores there are ALREADY people waiting in line. The plus side is Apple stores typically have more stock of iPhones so more people can get them there. Unless you are in one of those areas when people started camping yesterday (you know who you are NYC) you can probably snag a iPhone 3G S if you start standing in line about the same time as the AT&T folks.

iPhone 3G S - "S" stands for speed...

The iPhone 3G S has many of the same features as its predecessor, although it does come with a few notable additions. At the top of that list is a faster processor, giving the iPhone the ability to load apps three to five times as fast as the previous model.

The iPhone 3GS has a new processor built-in. Apple claims that it is up to two times faster than the previous generation: Launching messages is 2.1 faster, load the NY Times in Safari: 2.9 times faster. It also consumes less, which has an impact on the improved battery life.

The new model also gets a three-megapixel camera and the ability to record video that can be edited directly on the phone. Built-in voice control and a magnetometer with a compass app round out the new features of the phone.

The iPhone 3G S costs $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model. Both models come in black and white.

Apple iPhone 3G S - A Guided Tour

The Apple iPhone 3G S is a faster iPhone with a better camera and lots
of software and hardware updates. Watch the latest guided tour to
experiences the new 3G S features.

iPhone 3G vs iPhone 3GS
For those that still wonder what the differences are between the iPhone 3G and the new iPhone 3GS should take a look at this comparison list. I’m still disappointed that the new iPhone 3GS got the same size as the iPhone 3g. I was hoping for a smaller size, at least they should have done something about the width on the iPhone 3GS, don’t you think?
