UFC Throwdown
UFC Throwdown released in 2002 by Genki / Capcom Production Studio 3 is a game based on the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), the biggest mixed martial arts organization in the sport. The game places you in the position of a real-world fighter, utilizing various fighting styles, such as Freestyle, Wrestling, Kickboxing, Ju Jitsu, etc. Each fighter has a variety of real-life moves in different categories. There are punches, kicks, and various grappling techniques. There are also ways of making your opponent submit, or "tapout", to gain a victory.
You have the ability to perform combos and these combos are realistic; you can perform a 1-2-3-4 punch combos, or a punch-punch-kick combo, or any variation of those. There are over twenty five fighters in the game, each one based off of real-life UFC fighters. The game includes fighter entrances and authentic voices.
There are five different game modes; "Career", "UFC Mode", "Arcade", "Tournament" and "Exhibition".
Career mode involves the player creating a fighter, giving him a fighting style, completing a number of "skill challenges" to build up his attributes, then winning five sparring matches before you can enter an eight-man tournament. After the tournament is over, the player picks a new fighting style to learn, and completes the same process until it has been done five times.
In UFC Mode, the player picks a heavyweight or light-heavyweight fighter and must win four fights before having a title match. On winning, the player receives a silver belt, which can later become a gold belt if UFC Mode is completed again with the same fighter. There is also an open-weight division, where the player can face fighters from their selected fighter’s weight class as well as ones who aren’t.
In arcade mode the player selects a fighter and must win ten consecutive fights. Up to eight people can compete in the Tournament mode. Finally, exhibition mode consists of single 1 vs. 1 fights.

Tapout was published by Crave Entertainment and developed by Dream Factory. The subtitle Tapout refers to a fighter tapping his hand indicating that he has submitted to a submission hold. A tapout, along with a knockout, judge’s decision, and referee stoppage, is one of the ways to win a UFC bout.
The game features many of UFC’s top stars including Matt Hughes, Chuck Liddell, Mark Coleman, Frank Shamrock, and Tito Ortiz. Competitions can take place in several modes such as exhibition, tournament, arcade, and championship mode. Several fighters throughout the game are unlockable such as two female competitors and celebrity Ice-T.
A sequel to this game appropriately entitled UFC: Tapout 2 was released in 2003. Other than an updated roster, the game is very similar to the first Tapout and received similar reviews. Tapout 2 was published by TDK Mediactive. Both games have an ESRB rating of T for Teen.

UFC Tapout 2
UFC Tapout 2 is a video game in the fighting genre based upon the Ultimate Fighting Championship. It is the sequel to Crave Entertainment’s mixed martial arts fighting game UFC Tapout. UFC: Tapout 2 features a new developer as well as a redesigned engine. In addition to the visual refinements, which include more fluid animation and skin that stretches whenever a character flexes a muscle, the game offers more athletes, three additional fighting positions, and a variety of new grappling techniques, reversals, strike combos, and counters. A television-style presentation has also been a goal for developers, so the game more closely resembles the action found on actual pay-per-view events.
The Career mode found in its predecessor now offers players a chance to create their fighter from scratch, choosing from an assortment of face, hair, and body types, before gradually developing their character’s ability through competition. Making their return to the series are the eight-man Tournament, Training, Championship, and Legend modes. The last has players facing off against seven legendary fighters to determine the greatest champion in the world. The game also features a new soundtrack, but players are free to create their own music play lists using songs stored on the Xbox hard drive.

UFC Sudden Impact
UFC Sudden Impact is a Mixed Martial Arts game for the PlayStation 2 console and was released on April 21, 2004. It is the fourth Ultimate Fighting Championship game released, and it’s the second on the PlayStation 2. The cover is former UFC Middleweight, and former PRIDE FC middleweight, Phil Baroni giving a knee to the late Charles Lewis, Jr., also known as Mask from the Tapout clothing line.
UFC Sudden Impact is a sequel to UFC Throwdown. This time around each character has several different attacks depending on the distance relative to their opponent. You can now shove a fighter against a wall once you have taken them down. If they are pinned against a wall they will take more damage and it is a little harder for them to counter any ground strikes because of the limited mobility. On top of this you cannot counter an opponent by rolling them on their back and mounting them. Pinning them against a wall can also result in a significant flesh wound or bruise on a body part if you are able to keep them there for an extended period of time. In total, there are 35 different no-holds barred fighters to choose from (that’s 10 more than Throwdown) in addition to a host of all-new movies and a wider selection of fighting positions.
