Picks up rice, salt, leaves dust/dirt
My Panasonic Performance Plus upright vacuum has a new bag, a new belt and pretty good suction. Suddenly its either laying down dust/dirt or not picking up the same from our rugs.
The longer i vacuum, the more fine grained dust shows up on the surface of the rugs. But when we toss down rice or salt, it picks it up fine. It is completely illogical and we've tested everything we can. Ideas???? Has anyone ever experienced this? I've had vacuums for 30 years and haven't a clue. Thanks.

vacuum availability and bag question
Hello,
My first question is to all you vintage vacuum cleaner collectors: Does anyone have an old wireless vacuette of any model (any exept electric) that they are willing to let go of? If it requires work, I will gladly take it off your hands. If it's in good working condition, I will be willing to pay for it.
My next question is for anyone who knows the kirby classic III well: I have an old Kirby classic III (go figure. lol). The bag is blue with a slot to scrape the inside of the bag down with. What model of kirby would have a blue shake out bag? Thanks!!!

Carpet Sweeper
I know this isn't really a vacuum cleaner but I am looking for a specific carpet sweeper. Most of them come with the bristle brushes on the bottom, but I am looking for one that does not have the bristle brush. I know they exist but I am just having problems finding one. Do you have anything like this?
Koblenz U-800 Vacuum Cleaner Reviews
Koblenz is not a very well known vacuum cleaner manufacturer in the United States, but worldwide the word Koblenz in synonymous with quality vacuum cleaners. Koblenz first production line vacuum cleaner was introduced in the 1960’s. With over forty years experience in the vacuum cleaner market Koblenz now produces some of the best vacuum cleaners available at an unbeatable price. The Koblenz U-800 vacuum cleaner is an excellent piece of machinery engineered on a great foundation. The Koblenz U-800 vacuum cleaner is commercial in nature, but residential in price. In the today’s vacuum cleaner market it’s tough to find a vacuum cleaner with so many positive aspects for under three hundred dollars.
The U-800 has a modern appearance and is composed of ABS plastics. The refuse tank is rectangular in design with a large, easy to use carrying handle situated on the front, top edge of the vacuum cleaner. Even at nineteen pounds the handle makes lifting and carrying the vacuum cleaner easy. The handle is composed of chrome metal making it stronger than other brands such as Hoover. The handle is easy to grip, but is not enclosed like some of the high end commercial vacuum cleaners. The cord hooks are made from metal making them durable and rigid. The back of the refuse tank has recessed slots where tools can be neatly stored out of the way while the unit is in use. The slots securely fasten the tools even when bumped or hit. The intake suction hose connects with the refuse tank near the top of the vacuum cleaner and is designed with a suction carburetor. Carburetors are not common on many vacuum cleaners currently sold, but are nice when vacuuming lightweight rugs and delicate upholstery. With this carburetor system the amount of suction can be adjusted so that fabrics won’t rip and matting won’t get sucked along when vacuuming.
The Koblenz U-800 vacuum cleaner comes standard with three vacuum tools and telescopic wand. The three standard tools are comprised of a crevice tool, upholstery tool and dust brush. The telescopic wand extends to three times its original length and is great for vacuuming high areas, baseboards, and corners. To use the onboard vacuum attachments, the suction hose pulls away from the base and attaches to the telescopic wand. Overall the user has about 9 feet of reach with this system making any vacuuming job a breeze. Utilization of the carburetor system with the upholstery tool makes cleaning items such as drapes and delicate fabrics an easy task.
The base of the unit is built to withstand scratching from rough surfaces such cement floors. The underside of the vacuum cleaner is covered with a protective metal plate that is easy to remove, exposing the brush roller, motor pulley and belt. To decrease the vacuum cleaners downtime the belt can easily be replaced in less than one minute. The U-800 contains a single ten amp motor with ample power for the vacuum system and the brush roller. The unit comes complete with a fifty foot bright yellow cord that breaks away from the unit. A heavy duty extension cord can be used to replace the OEM cord making repairs easy and affordable. The lower edges of the base are wrapped in rubber to prevent damage when vacuuming close to baseboards and maneuvering around obstacles.
The Koblenz unit overall is a great vacuum cleaner for the price point with only one minor dislike. The manufacturer could have better positioned the on and off switch, either on the handle or on the rear of the unit, instead of the top-front of the refuse tank. This unit was introduced by Koblenz line in December of 2008 and is sure to be a hit for all residential and commercial users in 2009.

Windsor Versamatic Vacuum Review
![[Image: windsorversamaticvacuumcleaner.jpg]](http://www.vacuumcleanersworld.com/vacuuumimages/windsorversamaticvacuumcleaner.jpg)
The Windsor Versamatic Upright Vacuum 2 motor model is available in both 14 inch and 18 inch widths. The 2 motors include a large 1000 watt vacuum motor that provides 105 cfm of suction and a separate motor for the brush roller. The large vacuum bag holds up to 5.3 liters of debris and the body is made from high impact ABS plastic which is extremely durable. In short, this is a vacuum designed for a lot of wear and tear.
The unit has a quiet sound level of 66 decibels, despite its two motors, and includes many features that make it a very handy machine for commercial applications. The long 40 foot power cord is nice for covering large areas without needing to replug the unit several times. The electronic controls include a worn brush strip light and the system tells the operator when the brush is not set low or high enough. In addition, there are clogged hose and full bag indicator lights. The bags are easy to replace on a clip on the inside of the unit and a flap on the filter bag covers the hole so that debris can not spill out while the bag is being replaced. Another nice feature is the one screw fastening feature of the brush strip, which makes replacement of the brushes a cinch. Various brush strips are available for different types of floors.
The Windsor Versamatic Upright Vacuum includes a Three Year Warranty on the vacuum motor, brush motor and belts. The belts are toothed so that they do not slip on the brush motor or the brush roller, reducing wear and tear over time. The electronic clutch stops the brush motor from turning when the brush gets caught up. If a blockage occurs the vacuum cleaner has a valve that is released so that the vacuum motor does not burn up. These additional features are often seen in machines known for their quality.
One feature that is appreciated on this model is the crevice tool clip which is an improvement over the NSS Pacer 214 UE, which only includes a Velcro attachment for the crevice tool. In addition, the top unit of the Windsor Versamatic Upright disconnects from the lower assembly to become a canister vacuum for hard to reach places.
Although the Windsor Versamatic Upright is an overall good choice, there are a few drawbacks. The handle can easily break away from the unit itself if the entire machine tips back and a few features are in awkward positions. One example of this is the power switch, which is located on the body of the vacuum and not on the handle, where it would be more easily reached. Another awkward placement is the height adjuster, which is located on the bottom of the unit. Sometimes the entire machine has to be turned over in order to adjust the height.
The only other drawback may be the fancy electronic controls, which can sometimes lead to more problems in the long term, but admittedly, the Versamatic line is known for producing a more quality type of machine that can be rebuilt and parts found more readily than some others available. In the end the Versamatic vacuum cleaner is a good choice for heavy duty applications.

Rubbermaid MH15 Vacuum Review
![[Image: rubbermaidmh15vacuumcleaner.jpg]](http://www.vacuumcleanersworld.com/images/rubbermaidmh15vacuumcleaner.jpg)
The long awaited Rubbermaid vacuum line has finally arrived. After many missed launch dates and many years in research and development it looks like it was worth the wait. The Rubbermaid vacuum line includes twelve very well designed and user friendly models that include upright vacuum cleaners, backpack vacuum cleaners and wet dry vacuums. The MH and PH vacuums top off the lineup going up against the Sanitaire commercial vacuum line and the highly popular Windsor Versamatic.
The Rubbermaid 9VMH15 is a sleek looking vacuum cleaner in yellow and black with all the extras that a commercial cleaner would want. The MH glides effortlessly across the floor with great downward suction from its large and powerful single motor with more than ample power. Although the MH is a heavy vacuum the brush creates a forward motion that rivals the self propulsion systems on the older Kirby vacuum cleaners that were popular in the 70’s and 80’s. The MH series is sure to give the competition in its class a run for the money. For almost the same price as the high end Sanitaire models and half the price as the hard hitting Windsor Versematic this vacuum cleaner is sure to be a smash hit in the U.S commercial cleaning market.
It seems that Rubbermaid took a good look at the competition before designing this vacuum and took the best ideas from many vacuums and built the ultimate. The pull out wand has a comfortable handle grip with and extra wide tube to prevent clogging. The wand easily detaches from the suction tube for east cleaning of larger debris. The onboard tools tuck neatly into the back cover panel, don’t stick out, and remain secure even if the vacuum is dropped. The arsenal of tools includes and extra large wand, crevice tool and rectangle brush accessory.
The upper handle pulls away from the vacuum cleaner for easy replacement of the cord and can be replaced in seconds if a backup handle is readily available. The handle is very ergonomic and comfortable to grasp with a very accessible and reliable on and off switch. The vacuum cleaner is intelligent not only in design but also in performance. With a clogged system and bag full indicator light this vacuum lets you know if you’re not operating at full performance. If the unit does happen to clog Rubbermaid have added a secret trap door on the lower assembly with easy access to parts of the vacuum cleaner where most clogs would occur. With a simple flip of a switch the inner vacuum hose can be easily worked on with no screwdriver necessary.
The large rubber non skid wheels are great for maneuvering the vacuum into tight places and holds fast on hard floors. The MH15 vacuum cleaner comes with manual height adjustment leaving less to go wrong with the unit. The large well marked height adjustment dial is easy to read and easy to operate.
The 1.6 horsepower motor is a powerhouse even in industrial cleaning environments. With 98” of water lift and 105 cubic feet per minute of suction the 9VMH15 Rubbermaid vacuum cleaner is a forerunner in commercial vacuums. With the CRI Green Label certification this vacuum cleaner would be an asset to any green cleaning division or LEED certified facility.
Overall the Rubbermaid 9VMH15 is a superb vacuum cleaner and has to be one of the best I have seen. With all the pros to the vacuum it definitely outweighs the only two drawbacks I could see. My fist observation is that the foot lever on the back is a little too small and the vacuum is a little on the heavy side, but to be fair to Rubbermaid I will say that its hard to fit this much into a vacuum and not add a little weight. Overall this is my upright vacuum cleaner pick for 2008. It is easy to see that Rubbermaid have studied the competition and taken every great idea from every other vacuum and have designed a forerunner in the cleaning industry.

Rubbermaid UL12 Vacuum Cleaner Review
![[Image: wpeA.jpg]](http://www.vacuumcleanersworld.com/vacimages/wpeA.jpg)
In June of 2008 Rubbermaid launched its well engineered and well tested lineup of commercial vacuums. Their vacuum cleaner line ranges in price from two hundred dollars up to eight hundred dollars. The full vacuum line encompasses a full genre of vacuums each well suited to a particular task. The Rubbermaid UL12 is the smallest and lightest of the lineup making it comparable to the Oreck XL at almost half the price tag. The UL12 vacuum cleaner consists of a compact base and large front cloth bag system that has ample room for large amounts of debris. The vacuum stands quite tall for a compact vacuum with an extra wide cleaning path and side bristles for convenient edge cleaning for carpeted and bare floors.
The debris recovery area is designed simply yet very effective in its compact nature. The handle on this vacuum cleaner doubles as the pickup hose connecting the base unit to the bag assembly. Clogging could occur where the vacuum handle connects to the bag if larger debris is sucked into the unit. The bag on the vacuum is large for a compact model with almost three times the capacity of the average commercial vacuum cleaner. The bag is friction fitted to the recovery nozzle and is very easy the change taking only one minute for total bag replacement. The soft cover unzips quickly and is made from quality materials with a plastic backing plate adding to the sturdiness of the bag. Weighing in at only ten pounds this vacuum is highly recommended for the elderly or buildings that are multi level. The vacuum cleaner can easily be carried from level to level with ease and stores into tight spaces quickly and easily. The cord on the unit is forty feet long, five feet longer than most commercial vacuums giving a little extra reach when needed. The cord is easy to wrap up and unravel and can be wound neatly from a hook on the upper handle to a large hook midway down the rear shaft. The switch is located on the handle and easy to operate with one finger, making the vacuum easy to switch on and off
The base of the unit is very simple in both design and features. The suction hose connection can be easily unhooked from the base if debris clogs the main recovery tube. The vacuum cleaner rides on the main brush giving deep penetration of carpet fibers and no need for height adjustment. The brush roller is made from quality materials that will hold up to deep pile caret but also be gentle on hard flooring. The rear wheels are smaller than most commercial vacuum cleaners making the vacuum cleaner slide around corners but the rubber coating does give excellent traction on hard floors. The wheels are securely fastened to the rear axle with very little play evident. A unique feature to this vacuum are whisker like side bristles that create extra suction close to the baseboard removing debris other vacuum cleaners will not.
Overall the Rubbermaid UL12 is a great light duty commercial vacuum cleaner. The motor has ample suction for light to medium vacuuming tasks but lacks a handy onboard tool kit or wand. The vacuum is very colorful sporting a yellow and black motif making it very unique in looks. At one hundred dollars less than Oreck’s flagship vacuum the UL12 will give the XL a run for its money. The vacuum cleaner tears down quickly into three pieces and can fit in a small box for extended storage or easy transportation. This vacuum is recommended for residential use and light duty commercial cleaning where weight and portability is a factor.
