Browns receiver Cribbs likely vs. Lions
Eric Mangini expects Josh Cribbs to play when the Cleveland Browns go against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
Cribbs was strapped to a backboard and carted off the field after the last play of the Browns’ 16-0 loss to Baltimore on Monday night. He was briefly hospitalized with a possible neck injury and concussion.
Mangini says all of the measures taken with Cribbs were precautionary and that all the tests came back negative.

Ball movement stops and puts halt to winning streak
The Cleveland Cavaliers might well be riding a six-game winning streak had they not resorted to one-on-one play and kept settling for long jump shots in their 108-91 loss to the Washington Wizards Wednesday night.
The subpar offensive effort affected the other side of the court, too, as Washington got to run with the basketball after some poor Cavaliers decision-making, and became confident and team-oriented on offense.
Plain Dealer Cavaliers beat writer Brian Windhorst’s game report from Washington is here.
Washington, which has an impressive roster if it can stay healthy, got strong performances from several players, even a solid defensive effort and floor game off the bench from DeShawn Stevenson. He usually seems overwhelmed against the Cavaliers, but that wasn’t the case on Wednesday.

Blue Jackets loan Filatov to KHL team
The Columbus Blue Jackets have loaned promising forward Nikita Filatov to CSKA of the Continental Hockey League for the remainder of the 2009-10 season.
General manager Scott Howson announced the move Tuesday. He said it was made so Filatov could develop his game in his hometown of Moscow.
Filatov has been unhappy with his spare minutes since making the club to start the season. He appeared in 13 games with the Blue Jackets this season, scoring two goals. He has six goals in 21 NHL games over the past two seasons.

Bengals-Johnson union imminent?
Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson was en route to Cincinnati on Monday and, barring a last-minute breakdown, he expects to sign with the AFC North-leading Bengals, a source familiar with the negotiations told ESPN’s Michael Smith.
A deal, if consummated, is expected to be for the prorated league minimum. Coach Marvin Lewis said Monday that Johnson would be fourth on the team’s depth chart at running back.
The Bengals, along with several other teams, first expressed interest in Johnson last week as depth behind Cedric Benson, who suffered a hip injury in Sunday’s 18-12 victory at Pittsburgh.
Benson might be available to play Sunday in Oakland, Lewis said, adding that the team’s interest in Johnson isn’t related to Benson’s injury.

Collaros to start vs. West Virginia
Quarterback Zach Collaros will start for fifth-ranked Cincinnati against West Virginia on Friday night, with Tony Pike expected to play as well for the first time since he hurt his non-throwing arm.
Coach Brian Kelly announced Tuesday that Collaros will be his starter. The sophomore backup has played spectacularly and kept the Bearcats (9-0) in the national title conversation while Pike heals from surgery to replace a metal plate in his left forearm.
Collaros threw for 480 yards — the second-highest total in school history — during a 47-45 win over Connecticut on Saturday night. Pike warmed up before the game but didn’t play. Kelly said the senior will run some plays against West Virginia (7-2).
“We’re going to try to put a couple different packages in and just go from there,” Pike said after practice Tuesday. “Obviously getting back out there and practicing is one thing, but in the game it’s a different speed. That’s the biggest thing.

James: Championships more important
LeBron James wants to be clear: Championships are more important than cash. Not that the cash isn’t nice.
James on Monday clarified a remark he made last week that a maximum contract next summer isn’t that important to the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar.
“Let’s get this clear: I said the max contract doesn’t mean more than winning,” James said. “I didn’t say ‘I don’t need a max contract’ or ‘I’m not going to get a max contract.’ All I’m saying is that winning is more important to me than money at the end of the day.”
In New York for a game against the Knicks last week, James said “a max deal or anything like that doesn’t really matter to me at the end of the day. It’s all about winning for me.”

WR Henry has season-ending surgery
Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry will miss the rest of the season after having surgery on his broken left forearm.
Coach Marvin Lewis said Monday that Henry will be placed on injured reserve this week, ending his season.
He broke the forearm on his only catch Sunday during a 17-7 win over Baltimore that kept the Bengals (6-2) in first place in the AFC North.
Henry is in the final year of his contract with the Bengals, who let him go after his fifth arrest following the 2007 season.
