I just got a new camera.  It’s much more advanced than my old one.  I obviously don’t have the settings quite figured out.  I’ll get there.

And, What Did You Do With Your Family Last Night?

Well, we enjoyed a rousing game of family beer pong.  We actually played with water (lame), but I enjoyed a nice glass of wine on the side.  Definitely a step up from my college days.  Old keg beer vs. Wine=No contest.  Also, I am still good. Ask my brother.  Or not.  He’s still feeling a bit defeated.  The self-professed Beer Pong God went down.  5 times.  (The garage is set up like a frat house because of my brother’s party next week.  My parents don’t normally store multitudes of drinking games in there.)

Yes, I am wearing pajamas.

DIY Neck Warmer

I am obsessed with scarves, so I decided to see if I could salvage an old, worn sweater by turning it into a neck warmer/infinity scarf.

1. Cut the sweater to size. I cut mine just below the arms.

2. Fold the fabric in half and sew it along the open edges.

3. Sew up the remaining raw edges. I just played around with different stitches until I was satisfied with the result.

Voila! And, it's really warm. Perfect for winter.

When Are You Going Back?

IowaDraw

I have been asked this question too many times to count over the past month.  The short answer is, “Whenever I want.”  The longer answer is, “I’m not (for now), and here’s why…”

I am adaptable.  By nature, I make the most out of every situation.  I look on the bright side.  However, when I am removed from certain situations, it’s much easier to look back and determine my true feelings.  I can now say that, overall, I was not happy in Lithuania.  V’s parents made that absolutely impossible.  Also, their insistence on only eating (old) meat and potatoes wreaked havoc on my health.  I felt completely isolated and dependent.  Removed from their home, I am fiercely independent.  I am the metaphorical pillar.

Now, I do not hold anything against Lithuania.  In other situations (i.e., not living with V’s family), I am completely content in the country.  I do miss certain “luxuries”, but I can certainly live without them.  I have done it before in Lithuania (prior visits), and I’ve done it in Russia.

So, for now, I am here, and V is there for a variety of reasons.  He’s not thrilled about the situation, but it is his family, as I tell everyone else.  He needs to find a way to make our relationship with them tolerable.  Our future emotional states depend on it.  It’s too hard to completely weed them out (and I don’t want that, anyway).

He hopes to be somewhere new soon, but a few outside factors are slowing that process.  So, I will either move back to Europe when he is placed in a new country, or he will eventually make his way back over here.  Either way is fine.  Furthermore, it is finally giving me some time to focus on myself and advance some projects/ideas.

Engorged…With Beer

My brother’s birthday is on the 27th.  He’s throwing a party, and I am going to help ensure that everything runs smoothly (i.e., make sure that no partygoer ends up passed out in the garage/hot tub/fire pit/trash can):

Me: Hey, I found a shirt to wear to your party.

Brother:  What kind of shirt?

Me:  It says, “Beer Pong Champion”.

Brother:  No.  Not true.  But, you can wear my beer bong.

Seemed normal enough (for a bunch of college kids).  Until, I realized that this is his beer bong (BEWARE:  Fake boobies)?

BoobBong

I’m just glad beer goes in those things.  A White Russian, or something, would be even more awkward…
