Devil May Cry 3, is the second sequel to the popular video game.  After a first sequel wasn’t well received, Capcom tried again with this one.  This article examines the game.

The original game was very popular.  The sequel wasn’t so popular.  The franchise was reset with Devil May Cry 3, returning to its roots.  It was harder, and had a completely revamped fighting engine along with huge 3D worlds.  It sold about 1,300,000 copies around the world.  It was considered a financial success.  Game Informer called it one of the top video games of 2005.  It had one of the best fight systems in the video game world.  People could play it on a console or PC.

It opens when Vergil, a bad guy, sends some demonic hosts to attack his brother Dante.  Dante wins the fight, but then a high tower pops out of the ground.  Dante realizes his brother is behind this.  As he fights his way through the dead bosses become weapons.  The weapons help him battle through the following level.

But in the course of fighting through the tower and battling his brother, Dante learns that a man named Arkham is manipulating them in order to reactivate the tower, steal a powerful sword from the demon world, and use it to rule over the earth.  Dante and Vergil eventually defeat the Arkham, then fight over the powerful sword, called the Force Edge.  Dante wins the sword, and his brother chooses to stay behind in the demon world.

The plot is thin, but it drives the action from level to level and boss to boss.  The levels increase in difficulty.  In Japan the game had a hard mode, which was quite difficult.  Capcom made the decision to convert this into the normal mode in the North American release.  They bumped up difficulty from there, culminating in a nearly impossible hard level in North America.  Most people agreed it was too difficult.   

It’s very hard to please the gaming public.  People said the second game in the series wasn’t hard enough.  Capcom adjusted by increasing the difficulty of Devil May Cry 3 only to have that one criticized for being too difficult.  Sometimes it’s to the point that if a video game creator could walk on water people would complain that he doesn’t know how to swim.

By now Devil May Cry 3 is quite dated.  But in its time it was a fun game that many people played.

It is almost time for one of the most anticipated games of 2009. Skate 2 is set to be released on January 29th 2009 and people are already eager to book their place on the front lines to get hold of their own copy.

 
The game includes double the amount of tricks and a brand new city for people to skate in. San Valenona is the newly constructed city in which people can skate and it is truly a skaters paradise. Additionally, the career mode has changed slightly where you can now pick up professional skaters and help them revive their skating careers and re-invigorate the skate scene. New clothes, accessories, decks, trucks and shoes are all available including Dakine Bags and even Nixon Watches for you completely customisable character. The game also features numerous different famous skaters such as Mike Caroll, Eric Koston, Terry Kennedy and Chris Haslam. There are numerous videos available on the net including the EA website which preview the game and its features. The intro movie to Skate 2 is brilliant as it is all the skaters in the game trying to escape prison which is really funny!

 
The first instalment of the game was an utter success with gamers across the globe. It completely revolutionised the way people play skating games and it was so much fun. The game was really designed for next generation consoles in mind and it uses the entire controller brilliantly. Both analogue sticks are required to perform tricks so it makes it as realistic as possible rather than Tony Hawk which are deemed as more of the fantasy ‘you can do anything’ skating game where anything is possible. Although that sounds great it is better to have a skating game more realistic and accurate to how skating actually is which is far more enjoyable. It makes the game harder which then makes people want to play it even more so he can get better and doing the tricks.
